Lamborghini to Roll Out More Limited Production Supercars like the Sesto Elemento

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman surprised everyone when, on the eve of the Frankfurt Motor Show, announced that the Italian company would put the impressive Sesto Elemento concept into production.

The carbon fibre-bodied Sesto Elemento is powered by a 570HP V10 and, thanks to its low weight of 999 kg (2,202 pounds), accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds.

Now, if you thought that this was a surprise, here comes another one: Winkelmann revealed that the very limited-production Sesto Elemento (20 units) is only the beginning.

“Once in a while we should do one-offs or special editions. In this case, we made the concept and then got enough interest to make a limited run”, said Winkelman. “The key is that every car we build meets the emotional standards of Lamborghini and is profitable.”

He admitted though that future models will most likely not be as outrageous as the Sesto Elemento. “We have stretched the limits of weight with this car. To build something lighter would be too expensive."

Considering the price for "normal" Lamborghinis, "too expensive" probably means a price tag out of this world...

1970 Lamborghini Miura SV

Few cool cars made an impact on the world quite like the Miura. A central engine and fascinating body designed by Marcello Gandini redefined the supercar market and changed supercars forever.

The Miura was produced in small number, due to fear of few being sold. Only 275 models of the 350 HP Miura were made, and it was not until 1969 that its evolution- the 370 HP Miura S- became available for purchase. The Miura came with a 4 litre V12 engine, and a top speed of close to 300KPH.

Lamborghini Crafts New Collection of Bags made of Carbon Fibre Cloth

We are used to seeing carbon fibre applied in industrial as well as premium products such as bicycles, yachts, airplanes and of course, racing and sports cars, but Lamborghini claims to be the first company to utilize the lightweight but resilient material its un-stiffened, cloth form to produce fashion accessories, and in particular, bags.

The unisex collection, which was designed by Lamborghini and hand-crafted in Italy, comprises of Travel-, Messenger- and Envelope-style bags. The carbon fibre cloth is complemented by hand-stitched leather, palladium-finish galvanized brass accessories, hand-mounted studs and cotton lining.

"This line of bags explores an absolutely unprecedented use of carbon fiber, taking the thrust of technological innovation that characterizes our supercars, to the world of fashion," says Lamborghini boss, Stephan Winkelmann. "These are exclusive objects for those who are not content with practicality, but instead seek a way to stand out from the crowd and stamp their own personality on an accessory."

The range of carbon fibre bags will go on sale complete with a maintenance kit at Lamborghini's flagship boutiques and car dealerships around the world this fall.

Together with the travel bag collection, Lamborghini also released a new range of clothes and accessories for men and women for the fall 2011-winter 2012 season.
